I have come home to my paints and brushes after many
years spent with dirty hands, smudging and scumbling
and rubbing chalk pastels. Color, light, shadow, mood,
atmosphere, space, and yet more color all help direct
me as I begin to create.
In “A Thousand Forests”, my solo show
at the Spectrum Gallery in Washington, DC, the paintings
are a reflection of imagery in my life, some real
and some imagined. As I pass through the various stages
of life, there is a moment for reflection, a grey
space, which is located just after closing one door
but before opening the next. My paintings are presented
for you in hopes that you will linger a bit and savor
the grey space a while longer.
